Lesson 1. Don’t change everything. Just change something.

“Raising the temperature of water by one extra degree means the difference between something that is simply very hot and something that generates enough force to power a machine.”

At 211 degrees Fahrenheit, water is still water.

One degree more, at 212°, water changes, boils and becomes a gas. 

There are lots of books written around this notion because there are so many things we want to change about our life, but if we could just change one thing… the new trajectory would be SO altered that it just might change everything! All it takes is that one degree … that one change that can change everything.

Like our life, the water in a river is always moving and if we’re not careful, it will sweep us up in to whatever current we find ourselves bathing in. If we want to move in a particular direction we must stop coasting, put down the book of instructions, clasp the oar purposely by the handle and the shaft, to reach far and deep using every muscle from head to toe. Pull back and forth. Reassess your grip, your stance. Repeat.  

That one simple action brings movement. Get rowing!

Every single day is a new chance to change everything with one small change! 

Can you imagine your one small thing? What is that one thing? 

You know what it is, I don’t need to tell you. You are capable and strong. What is your one thing?

What would happen if you made that one change every day for the next month? Start with the next week if that feels better. Every hour if that helps … I can’t tell you what to do, you have to spend a moment in your own heart to hear what your body and soul have been trying to tell you.

What is the message you’ve been ignoring?

The truth is we all know what to do, we just actually have to do it.

And so I am.
