Lesson 5. Trying new things is necessary. Be excited.

Dear Reader, Like you, I'm on a journey of listening to my heart more, focussing on what's truly important to me and my family, and letting go of the fluff and sticky crap that holds me down. These are the lessons I'm learning every day. I hope you can relate. Join me, let's walk together. Love Brookh

What I don’t want is empty promises; not from others and not to myself.

The decision to commit to LIVING and feeling more goodness every single day had been coming for a while. When I finally decided to do it, part of me was reluctant to adopt the changes necessary because the commitment seemed so big.

I’ve been scared of big. Hurt by my own (perceived) failure. Tired of trying and trying, and feeling like I’ve not gotten anywhere.

I wondered, “Will this be too much to accomplish?”

“Is 1° enough?”

“Will I have too many things to remember?”

I originally thought I might actually take on a new thing every day, but that type of overachievement is an old (hurtful) habit I recognize;

“Oh it’s just once a month, I can totally volunteer for that!”

Psst, you hearin’ me?

How can we make a positive difference without overwhelming our schedule (that’s already full)?

How can we open space to feel more joy and do what we’ve got to do without an extra, say, 5 hours to the day?

To top it off, we make life difficult when we get something in our mind and decide, “this is what I’m doing now!”.

“It’s this way or the highway.” and we judge our worth on the end goal.

If we achieve it, great, we move on … but if we don’t … ouch!

We regret not getting there. We feel shame. We feel like a looser.

But what if we drew a line in the sand in the wrong place? Media-marketing, and other people ideals can have a great influence on our thinking, but they have absolutely nothing to do with OUR own personal needs and requirements. (A theatre in the basement, more money, 6 pack abs, a holiday photo where EVERYONE is smiling, or home-baked goods for every gathering, you know the pressure …). While advertising is designed to hit us in the heart strings, our decisions from there are not generally made from the heart, they are made by the ego (in our brain).

The ideals of others have nothing to do with YOUR needs.

Put your hand over your heart. Close your eyes and breath in for a moment.

What do you really need right now?

I made a gorgeous daily log to download. Gifts, like love, is everywhere.

The rest is not important.

Love Brookh
