Lesson 11: I'm a better me when I get outside

My Spirit knows.

Dear Reader, Like you, I'm on a journey of listening to my heart more, focussing on what's truly important to me and my family, and letting go of the fluff and sticky crap that holds me down. These are the lessons I'm learning every day. I hope you can relate. Join me, let's walk together. Love Brookh

The reason why we tend to vacation in the outdoors is because our connection to Mother Earth and nature feeds us somehow. We are grounded when we actually touch and walk on real dirt, real rocks, or real sand and when we can look up to the sun, and not a lightbulb.

I’ve shared one of my favorite ways to reconnect as soon as I wake up when I put my hands on my heart and ask myself what to do now. Sometimes I am called to meditate, or write, which I do most days anyway but usually I am called to walk the dog.

And it changes everything.

When I have a specific plan to follow for the day, without a few minutes to check in with myself and the path that God wants me to follow, I rob my Spirit from being able to talk with me and to guide me.

Some days I have responsibilities as soon as I awake, but I think that waking up a bit early to listen to our Guidance is a habit worth learning because as I walk, just one step after the other, I am reminded about the beauty that is all around us every day and I usually drop a few things from my to-do list because they just don't seem as important anymore. I look up in Thanks.

Keep walking or you won’t get to where you want to go.

Life is just like that. We want to get to the place where everything is fine and nothing is rocking the boat, (no tsunamis!), but things that do not move get stuck and stinky. If we are talking about  stagnant water, that’s when mosses and other gross things grow.

Then I feel badly for thinking moss is gross. Moss is just being moss and moss is what happens when water doesn’t move.

Fat, disease, cancer are just things that grow when we don’t move in the direction of our health.

My spirit leads me most days to do what is best for my journey on this earth. It’s when I block it our or feel entitled or deserving, like I've been good, ‘I want’ that snack, (or that crap or two servings of something healthy). Even overeating a good thing, is a bad idea.

I don’t have the answers for you, but I DO know how to draw them to your attention.

You can have what you desire but not by doing the same things that got you here.

Not by doing this alone.

Don’t let anyone tell you you’re just stuck, or just stressed. You’ve been stressed and focussed on something else for too long. Those well-meaning words rob us from deep fulfilling love and relationships. That mindset of "oh well' numbs us out from feeling the truth of our life, the vibrancy and the joy.

What do you need to do right now?

If you can relate, reach out or let me know in the comments below.
